September 3 - 6, 2015

Did You Know??

The Harrow Fair is an old-fashioned country fair that began in 1854. That's 161 years (older than Canada!!)of prize chickens, award-winning quilts, red ribbon baking, amazing live entertainment, fantastic family fun, and enough volunteers to populate a town.

Here are some more trivia tidbits:

  • There are 70 competition classes
  • ... with 2900 sections ...
  • ... and almost 8,000 entries last year!
  • Approximately 20 different committees organize for the ...
  • ... nearly 80,000 people who will attend.

That's a lot of cotton candy, Folks!

President's Message

On behalf of the board of directors I would like to welcome you to the 161st Harrow Fair. Another year has gone by and as the summer comes to an end we again gather on Labour Day weekend to celebrate our agricultural roots here in Essex County. Agricultural exposure is the primary reason for our fair. Visit the barns to see the livestock being exhibited by not only the 4-H members but also some of our local farmers. Many harvested crops are also exhibited at our fair. We are so fortunate to live in an area with an abundance of fresh produce available at our fingertips.

Many exhibitors, both rural and urban also exhibit in Culinary Arts, Canning, Needle Arts, Arts and Crafts and Photography. Please visit all our buildings to see the entries. Creativity, imagination and many hours of hard work have gone into these entries. Carter Shows will again supply us with safe and exciting rides for all ages. Don’t miss the parade on Saturday morning as it winds its way thru the streets of Harrow. Other activities that you and your family can experience are the horse shows, tractor pulls, lawnmower races, auctions and main stage entertainment.

Last but not least, I would like to thank our volunteers, exhibitors and everyone who attends our fair. Without each and everyone of you we could not have survived for 161 years. Thanks and enjoy the fair.

Beverly Pillon
